A challenge...

From a fellow photographer and one who is a true inspiration to me.... I am taking on a challenge...
The challenge is to tell your story (one week of it at least) in pictures....Sounds simple right????
And shouldn't be a problem for someone who never leaves the house with less than 2 cameras right??? (cell phone camera, p&s camera and dslr.....it's my love, my talent, my life to live with cameras.... )
Well the past few days I have been testing the challenge to see if I really could capture my days in pics.....it's possible but man it's work to remember to get the little stuff.....
I think that's what this challenge means to me.... sometimes I will wait for the "big" ticket chances....and let the "little" stuff slip by.....
hmmmm....think about it....not just in the form of photos....but in the form of life...opportunities...God opportunities....wow....this is deeper than what I was even thinking a few minutes ago....
Don't you just LOVE how He does that...how He plants a seed and just lets the waters of the Spirit flow......
OK... so I am just getting most of this as I type...but here it goes......
The challenge, as I mentioned before is to capture the moments of life throughout a day ending after one week - a full seven days.....
I want to do it... I have a plan to start on Thursday, October 9 and run to Wednesday, October 16. As you take the pics, you also take notes....document in some way to deepen the experience and have a way togo back and reflect, evaluate, and see where you can grow....when the week is done....you collect everything and put it all together.....It will show you who and what is important to you.....where your heart is....what your passions are.....
So to tie this all up....for me it will show me who I am right now, at this point in life.....with all that God is doing in my life (the things I know about and the ones I am yet to discover).....not just the "cool" pictures I am going to get.... :-)
"This is something bigger than me, larger than life, something Heavenly...." the words of the song on my site....everyday it is more to me than just a song....it's a way of living right now...and I can see where it totally applies to me right now, even as I type this post.

I'm into this challenge....are you? Whether it is documenting in pics or in a journal, online or a combination of them....are you ready to see who you are, what you love, what your passions are.....instead of waiting for the "big ticket" events, cherishing the little moments, the little things, the little glimpses of HIM, of Him in YOU....
Let's challenge each other.....for one week....not much to ask....but so much to learn and grow from....
on your mark.......
get set...........
go...........!!!
until next time....
here's a thought from my last night's bible study. It's a Beth Moore study titled "Breaking Free."
She said something last night, and here's my interpretation of the statement....
the statement went something like this: (Amy's paraphrase) ~ Our bodies, our spirits are like a vase...as Christians, the Holy Spirit dwells within us.... but if we are not satisfied with just the Lord, we will try to fulfill those desires with other things....we try to fill it up with things that temporarily satisfy us...food, money, clothing, cars, houses, etc..... and when we fill our vases up with these things and do not have the constant satisfaction of the Living Water alone, there's no room for the Holy Spirit to work within us...there's barely room for the Living Water, which brings us life.....We have to get all of the "stuff" out of us, and be filled with the Living Water. He is the richest cream to be filled with and everything else is gravy on top.
Ok so what I heard was the same up to the point of everything else is gravy on top.....I have to say my dear friend Suzie Q and I have an understanding about God's way of the "little" things in life.
Have you ever had the most precious desert, cake for example (some of the ladies from our Bible study last year will relate to the cake....) but something was missing....break out the sprinkles and ta-da there it was complete....

it's like when we go to "the big cow" (that's what the kids call Sirlion Stockade) to have dinner. I can guarantee that the kids will eat everything on their plates....why?? Because they have an ice cream and desert station with all kinds of toppings...gummy bears, cookie crumbs, chocolate, sugared candies....and while our visits to "the big cow" are only about 2 to 3 times a year.....they love it no because of the food, not because of the deserts, but because of all the SPRINKLES they can put on their deserts, their bowls of ice cream....
I tell you all of this to show you my point....we have to look at the little things as the SPRINKLES, the toppings of life.....what joy a few candied pieces will bring to my daughter's heart, and in the same manner, what joy a few touches, a few real glimpses of the Lord (the sprinkles) bring to me. Look at it like this, the Amy version on "gravy" on top.....if you have the richest, creamiest, most delicate filling in your vase ~ hence the Living Water, the Lord, and His Spirit.....all the other stuff, the jobs, the cars, the houses, the money, and so on....welll honey.....
all that stuff is just the SPRINKLES of Life with the Lord!

Have a good one....
